Our History
|
We are thankful for God's abundant provision through the years and the many people who have been a part of Open Door. We are looking forward to many more years of fruitful service. Our desire is to be a spiritual home where people can come and experience God's love through times of worship, fellowship, teaching and prayer. We want to see people grow, mature and bear fruit that honors God!
Statement of Faith
- We believe in one God, the Creator of heaven and earth. He exists eternally as Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
- We believe in the deity of Jesus Christ, the Son of God, who is the Messiah of Israel. He was born of the virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified for our sins, and was bodily resurrected from the dead. He will come again to judge the living and the dead.
- We believe in the Holy Spirit who empowers, seals, instructs, guides, and comforts those who put their faith and trust in the Lord Jesus Christ. We further believe His power and gifts are available to believers today.
- We believe that repentance for sins and faith in Jesus Christ are essential for salvation and eternal life.
- We believe that the Bible is the inspired and only infallible Word of God and the final authority for the Christian faith and practice.
- We believe that all who put their faith in Jesus Christ should be baptized in water.
- We believe that God establishes pastors and elders who are responsible to provide oversight for the local church. They have a responsibility to counsel and instruct the members with the wisdom and guidance of the Holy Spirit according to the teachings of the Bible. Their goal is to equip the saints for the work of the ministry.
- We believe Open Door Church to be a small part of the body of Christ on earth. We are members of the Church which has been built by the Lord Jesus Christ over the last 2000 years, beginning in the New Testament. We express our unity with all Christians who love and serve Jesus Christ as their Lord.
Key Scriptures - These are scriptures that have guided us through the years...
Matthew 28:18-20 Then Jesus came to them and said, " All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the end of the age."
Acts 2:42-47 They devoted themselves to the apostles' teaching and to the fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer. Everyone is filled with awe, and many wonders and miraculous signs were done by the apostles. All the believers were together and had everything in common. Selling their possessions and goods, they gave to anyone as he has need. Every day they continued to meet together in the temple courts. They broke bread in their homes and ate together with glad and sincere hearts, praising God and enjoying favor of all the people. And the Lord added to their number daily those who were being saved.
Colossians 1:28,29 We proclaim him, admonishing and teaching everyone with all wisdom, so that we may present everyone perfect in Christ. To this end I labor, struggling with all energy, which so powerfully works in me.
1 Timothy 1:5 The goal of this command is love, which comes from a pure heart and a good conscience and a sincere faith.
